A pastor tragically lost his life in a bizarre accident in Belize while on his way to his son's wedding last weekend.

Pastor Julian Bol, 53, of Maya Mopan Village in the Stann Creek District, died on impact when his van collided with a wooden house that had become dislodged from a trailer transporting it. A 13-year-old minor was also in the van but escaped uninjured.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith said the accident occurred during the early hours of Saturday morning. Officers responding to the scene found the damaged van approximately eight hundred feet from the trailer, which had been carrying the wooden house.

The initial investigation indicates that the convoy, with the trailer carrying the house, was traveling southbound toward Independence Village when the lead vehicle driver saw an oncoming vehicle. He reportedly tried to signal the driver by blinking his lights, but the vehicle continued, resulting in the fatal collision.

ASP Smith added that investigators will also examine whether the conditions of transporting the house complied with the terms of the wide load permit.

Reports said Pastor Bol had left Maya Mopan Village to pick up cooks for the wedding when the van slammed into the wooden house.
