'Charlie' hunt second win
Charlie Smith will go for their second straight win in the ISSA-FLOW Manning Cup competition this afternoon when they take on Clan Carthy in one of two Group B matches at the Tony Spaulding Sports Complex, starting at 3.30 p.m.
In the other group game, Holy Trinity entertain Mona at the Bell/Chung Oval.
Charlie Smith kick-started their campaign with a 2-1 win over Mona on Monday and victory over Clan Carthy, who will be playing their first match of the season, would put them top of the standings with the maximum six points.
"One of our objectives (is) to take the lead, but not only to take the lead but to stay ahead. It will be a tough season as the talent pool is not that great, but we are ready to take the lead," Charlie Smith coach Jerome Waite said.
The 2014 beaten finalists were less than impressive in their opening fixture against Mona, but Waite promises a much improved display this afternoon.
"It will be a little bit better, the surface will be better, so I expect the players to rise above expectation," he said.
Last season's beaten finalists St George's College open their account today when they travel to Edward Seaga Sports Complex to play Tivoli in Zone A.
Tarrant play Greater Portmore in the other Group A game. In the lone Group B match, St Andrew Technical oppose Eltham High.
In Group F, Edith Dalton James host Kingston Technical.
All games start at 3.30pm.
