Rytikal gets ‘Explicit’ in new single

With his latest single ' Explicit', dancehall artiste Rytikal steps into a more instinctive and liberated phase of his artistry.

Produced by Dalton 'Knackoutt' Williams of Knackoutt Productions, the track scales back on sharp lyrics and lets the rhythm drive the energy, creating a record made for the dancefloor.

"I've reached a part in my career where I trust the music more," Rytikal explained. "I don't feel pressured to prove lyrical ability on every record. I can step back, let the riddim breathe, and still deliver something meaningful."

Much of that confidence comes from experience. Since emerging on the scene, Rytikal has built a reputation for thought-provoking lyrics and unconventional storytelling. With Explicit, he shows another side, one that prioritises feel and flow while remaining true to his identity.

"People know you for a certain style, so when you push boundaries, you have to be mindful," he said. "My goal is always to give people the Rytikal they know, while still doing what feels natural to me in the moment."

A key inspiration behind the track is the role of women in shaping dancehall culture.

"Ladies really bring the energy that makes dancehall what it is," Rytikal said. "This song is for their enjoyment, their movement, their freedom, their expression."

Though its title suggests provocation, Explicit is described to be less about controversy and more about honesty. The single arrives in both explicit and clean versions, reflecting the artiste's understanding of music's different spaces while maintaining creative intent.

"Music is about time and place," he said. "You can express yourself freely while still being responsible and creative."
