Suspected drowning of 6-y-o boy at Caymanas Mineral Spa
A day of recreation at the popular Caymanas Mineral Spa ended in tragedy on Tuesday when a six year old boy reportedly got into difficulties while swimming and drowned.
The child has been identified as Josia Lewis of Tivoli Gardens in Kingston. He was a student of Alpha Primary School.
Police from the Central Village station said that about 3:30 p.m., Lewis was at the attraction when he encountered difficulties in the water and is suspected to have drowned.
The police were alerted and the child was rushed to the Spanish Town General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His body was later transferred to a funeral home for a post mortem examination as investigations continue.
