Hanover man charged with rape

A 20-year-old construction worker is now in police custody facing rape charges after he was reportedly caught in the act of sexually assaulting a young child inside a Hanover home on Sunday, April 12.
The accused allegedly forced his way into a residential property in the parish at around 11 p.m. According to investigators, he dragged the young girl into a room and began assaulting her. A family member reportedly caught him in the act and immediately raised an alarm, interrupting the assault. The police said the accused man fled the scene. 
A report was made to the police and, following an investigation, the man was subsequently located, arrested, and officially charged in connection with the attack. 
He is scheduled to appear before the Hanover Parish Court today.
