Jose Marti register wins in ISSA urban netball
FOLLOWING the postponement of all Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) sporting competitions due to the passage of Hurricane Melissa on October 28, netball became the first sport to resume action, with several matches contested on Monday in the urban competition.
With the second round slated for next week, Jose Marti High look certain to advance in both the junior and senior categories after convincing wins at home over Excelsior High.
Following defeats earlier in the season to Wolmer's Girls, the St Catherine-based school remain second in the zone behind Wolmer's, where the top two teams will advance. Jose Marti's junior team got by Excelsior 23-18 before the seniors scored a resounding 51-19 victory.
In the other senior game on the day, former champions Ardenne blew away Holy Childhood 18-0, while their junior team also notched a 26-12 win for a double success.
Matches continued yesterday with former champions Gaynstead High scoring double wins. Their under-16 team first got by Campion College 31-7 before the seniors defeated Immaculate Conception High 49-26.
