Marshall, Bell aiming for World U20 success

Over the years, Jamaicans have achieved good results in the women’s 100m hurdles at the World Under-20 Championships, with Gillian Russell and Kerrica Hill winning back-to-back titles, while Ackera Nugent won once.
Jamaica will be represented at this year’s championships in Eugene, Oregon, by Wolmer’s Girls training partners Tiana Marshall and Ackeelah Bell.
All eyes, however, will be on Marshall, who is ranked fourth in the world with a personal best of 12.98 seconds, and will be hoping to challenge for the gold medal when the event gets under way.
Marshall has been one of the country’s most consistent junior hurdlers over the past two seasons, and she is also a back-to-back Carifta Games champion. Her impressive performances have placed her among the leading contenders for the title in Eugene.
The world-leading time going into the championships is 12.91 seconds, set by Madeline Cooper of the United States.
Marshall’s training partner, Bell, will also be hoping to make an impact in the event and give Jamaica a strong presence in the final.
