Up-and-coming dancehall artiste Melodii prides himself on releasing clean music, free of expletives.

Born and raised in Clarendon, the Foga Road High School alumnus discovered his passion for music as early as 10 years old. His latest single, Stages, joins previous releases such as Legends, Darkness, and Learn.

"Not everybody from my era or my age group is doing the type of music that I am," Melodii says of his expletives-free lyrics.

He added: "To see somebody like me, who's around a lot of different artistes, still choose to maintain a strong focus, the people love that."

Melodii cites Bob Marley, Beres Hammond, Christopher Martin, and Romain Virgo as his musical inspirations. "Every time I listen to their music, it's motivational. It pushes me to pursue my goals," he said of the trailblazing entertainers.

According to Melodii, Stages, released on August 31 and produced by Stocks An Bondz Recordz, reflects some of his personal experiences.

"The song was based on everything that I was actually going through with every step that I was taking with music. From different events, and from there, some other things started happening such as day-to-day life experiences," the entertainer, whose given name is Roderick Baker, said.

The young artiste dreams of taking his music global, aiming to perform on stages such as Reggae Sumfest, Rebel Salute, and other major music festivals. He has vowed to keep his lyrics free of expletives, even while navigating the competitive music industry.

"No matter what happens, this is me and this is always going to be me, and I'm not going to change," he said.

"I'm always going to do music and spread something positive. I'm always going to try to elevate myself," Melodii said.
